RX, the organiser of Aircraft Interiors Expo (AIX), has revealed details of some of the cabin interior solutions attendees can expect at this year’s show, as well as conference details. AIX returns to the Hamburg Messe, Germany, on 8-10 April 2025.
The 2024 edition of the show welcomed more than 12,000 attendees, including representatives from 166 airlines. This year’s show will place an emphasis on two critical themes: sustainability and accessibility.
Sustainability
Exhibitors will present a wide array of sustainability-focused solutions, from lightweight materials and bio-based plastics to energy-efficient lighting systems and advanced cabin air management technologies. Attendees can expect to see demonstrations of circular economy principles in action, with exhibitors showcasing products designed for recyclability and reuse.
Accessibility
AIX 2025 will also display a range of accessibility-focused solutions, including adaptive seating systems, wheelchair securement devices and accessible lavatory designs. Exhibitors will demonstrate advancements in sensory accessibility, such a tactile signage and audio descriptions.
Yokohama Aerospace America (YAA) will unveil its PRM (passenger with restricted mobility) lavatory module for the Boeing 737. This design features touchless technology, a smart mirror, and foot-operated controls. YAA will also offer retrofit options for existing lavatories, including touchless upgrades and customisable design kits.
Comfort and wellbeing
AIX 2025 will also highlight trends in passenger comfort and wellbeing. Exhibitors will showcase ergonomic seating solutions that prioritise passenger comfort and support, with features like adjustable lumbar support, integrated massage functions and personalised climate control.
Changzhou Gas Spring will demonstrate its pneumatic components and seat reclining control systems. The quest for improved passenger wellbeing will also be reflected in developments in cabin lighting, air quality systems and noise reduction technologies.
IFEC
AIX will feature a dedicated IFEC Zone, showcasing advancements in satellite connectivity, wireless streaming and personalised entertainment systems. New exhibitor CesiumAstro will highlight its satellite communication system for example. Attendees can expect to see demonstrations of high-speed internet access, live television streaming and immersive VR entertainment options. The IFEC Zone will also highlight a trend for personalised entertainment.
In addition, AIX will welcome a diverse range of exhibitors, from established giants to start-ups. Returning exhibitor Airbus will showcase its latest developments in the A330neo cabin, as well as highlighting its Airspace Link products, and a range of retrofit solutions.
Schott will present its portfolio of ambient and functional lighting solutions, including the Opal Cover Reading Light, designed in collaboration with PriestmanGoode, and the flexible HelioCurve LED strip. The show will also welcome first-time exhibitors such as Robert Hofmann, a solutions provider with expertise in 3D printing and aerospace manufacturing, and Fraunhofer IPK, a research and development organisation specialising in production technology. Amerex will highlight its safety and fire suppression systems.
Passenger Experience Conference
The Passenger Experience Conference (PEC), taking place on 7 April, will provide a deeper dive into the broader passenger experience landscape, across a three-track programme.
The Collaboration Initiatives track delves into key partnerships, with sessions on rail-aviation integration; eVTOL passenger experience; and VIP travel trends; featuring experts from Tangerine, SkyTeam, Sora Aviation and Greenpoint Technologies.
The Engagement Initiatives track focuses on crafting desirable passenger experiences, with sessions on experience-driven design; the passenger journey roadmap; digital experience strategies for the 2030s; and leveraging passenger feedback for ancillary revenue; featuring speakers from Icon Ventures, Panasonic Avionics and Omnevo.
The Transformation Initiatives track examines ongoing projects and future-focused innovations, including the transformation of passenger experience in India; sustainable solutions in mass transportation; circularity in the cabin; and accessible air travel. This track features speakers from Air India, IndiGo, Adani Airport Holdings, Insperial Group, IBA Group and Flying Disabled, among others.
CabinSpace Live
CabinSpace Live, the show’s dedicated conference programme, will offer a series of sessions on key trends and challenges facing the aircraft interiors industry. Experts from airlines, manufacturers and industry associations will share their perspectives on topics such as sustainable cabin design, passenger wellbeing and the future of IFEC.
On Tuesday 8 April, in partnership with HMG Aerospace, discussions will focus on connectivity solutions, accessible IFE, and cabin refurbishment, including sessions lead by Corinne Streichert (IFECtiv), Bill Milroy (ThinKom), Seth Miller (PaxExAero) and Axel Becker (Airbus). The afternoon will see discussions on IFEC content personalisation and future satellite connectivity capabilities, with speakers including Maryann Simson (Jetway Communications) and Dimitrios Tsirangelos (Spafax). Satu Dahl, editor at Inflight Magazine, will moderate a session exploring how airlines can maximise profits and ensure seamless operations through connected cabin solutions, leveraging AI.
The full programme is set to be announced shortly.
Crystal Cabin Awards
The Crystal Cabin Awards will take place on the evening of the first day of the event – Tuesday 8 April. The recent shortlist highlighted more than 20 products across seven award categories. Winning entries will also be presented at CabinSpace Live the following day.
AIX Connect
AIX Connect, the show’s online planning tool, will be available to all attendees, facilitating networking and meeting scheduling. This platform will enable attendees to connect with exhibitors and schedule meetings in advance.
“AIX 2025 is a pivotal moment for the aircraft interiors industry,” said Archana Dharni, event director, Aircraft Interiors Expo. “We’re bringing together the brightest minds and the most innovative solutions to shape the future of air travel. This year’s event is a testament to the industry’s commitment to sustainability, accessibility and passenger-centric design.
