The Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India (ASSOCHAM) has awarded Air Works its Best MRO Achievement Award 2021. ASSOCHAM’s annual awards recognise the contribution and successes of stakeholders in the civil aviation ecosystem.
Speaking on the occasion, D Anand Bhaskar, managing director and CEO at Air Works Group, said, “I am honoured and humbled to accept this award. The Best MRO Achievement Award is an ideal tribute that acknowledges and recognises the efforts and initiative of every member of Air Works, who stepped forward and in fact, enhanced their commitment during the trying times, to preserve the group’s purpose, culture, values and business ethos, not only ensuring its survival but even increasing Air Works’ relevance to our customers and to the overarching aviation and aerospace industry.”
“COVID-19 tested our fundamentals of family values and relationships, innovation and customer centricity at numerous times and often, in extraordinary ways,” Bhaskar continued. “However, our DNA of adaptability and our enduring spirit of the last seven decades helped us prevail, making Air Works one of the few Indian aviation and aerospace brands to be relevant today in India as well as the region.”
Air Works noted it had notched up several successes in the past two years – including securing maintenance contracts that ensured 100% capacity utilisation. The group also added new customers and expanded its defence and OEM relationships with Boeing, Embraer, Bell and Leonardo. Air Works also invested in and expanded its maintenance facilities by 40%, adding a new, twin-hangar narrow-body facility at Cochin International Airport and commissioning a dedicated hangar for its business aviation customers at Hosur, Tamil Nadu. The group also accelerated its technology-led transformation, creating tools such as Air Works Digital Info Suite (AWDi), Air Works Automation Suite (AWtomateS) and Air Works Customer Information Management (AWCIM) as well as winning awards for deploying new technologies such as RFID to re-engineer its processes.
The company also unveiled a business analytics solution – Maintenance Insights (mSights) – designed to deliver operational efficiencies using insights gathered from a 360° view of maintenance operations/projects via an interactive dashboard. mSights was recently recognised by IDC at its Industry Innovation Awards as winner in the Innovation in Data Intelligence category.
