Cobalt Aerospace was recently recognised in the UK’s Queen’s Awards for Enterprise. The company was one of only five businesses to receive two such awards in 2021, in the fields of Innovation and International Trade.
The Queen’s Awards for Enterprise celebrate pioneering UK businesses. In 2021, 205 businesses were recognised in the categories of International Trade, Innovation, Sustainable Development, and Promoting Opportunity (through Social Mobility).
Cobalt Aerospace’s success in the ‘Innovation’ category was down to its flagship product, Cobalt Spectrum, a drop-in LED mood-lighting system for aircraft cabins. The product is designed to offer high reliability and a comprehensive feature set. It is flying with many flag-carrier airlines and other prestigious operators worldwide.
“We were bowled over to learn that we had won, not one, but two awards,” said Dan Rust, director and co-founder of Cobalt Aerospace. “I’m incredibly proud of the whole team – each of whom have contributed to our success with their hard work and dedication over the last eight years. To be recognised in this way is huge cause for celebration, and excellent motivation to achieve even more over the next eight!”
Winners of the Queen’s Awards for Enterprise are personally approved by Her Majesty the Queen. Established in 1965, more than 7,000 companies have since received an award.
