Astronics has launched its wireless charging module (WCM) for the business aviation market. The solution enables passengers to charge their Qi-enabled smartphones and other devices. It can be installed on aircraft and helicopters, and on forward fit and retrofit projects.
Introduced at Aircraft Interiors Expo 2018, the WCM has been adopted by numerous seat manufacturers. It can be integrated in passenger seats, furniture or galleys.
“Business jet and VIP travellers expect the luxuries of home in their aircraft, right down to how they keep their newest phones and tablets charged,” said Christine Ellis, director of business development for airborne power and control at Astronics AES. “Our wireless charger is flight proven and integration ready to bring an upscale touch to your next business jet programme.”
Astronics already provides a highly successful in-seat power solution, EmPower, which has been installed by more than 280 airlines and various business aircraft OEMs.
The 15W charger is Qi-certified and is compatible with the most popular mobile devices offered from Apple, Samsung and others that are Qi-enabled. Astronics’ WCM is already linefit offerable by both Airbus and Boeing. Qi certification ensures safety through testing as well as device compatibility.
