Astronics Connectivity Systems and Certifications (CSC), which specialises in providing connectivity hardware, integration engineering and certification services for the aviation sector, has moved into a new office and manufacturing facility in Waukegan, Illinois.
The company says the move will enable it to expand its manufacturing capacity and certification services, making use of more than 167,000ft² (15,515m²) of space. The leased facility opened on 18 July 2019 with a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by Astronics senior executives along with representatives from the city of Waukegan.
“We are very excited to move into this beautiful new space,” said Michael Kuehn, president of Astronics CSC. “The combination of office space and manufacturing capability will help us meet increasing demand now and in the future. Astronics CSC now has the ability to develop, produce and certify products all within one location, which enables a faster, more efficient production process to satisfy customer product needs.”
Waukegan is approximately 20 miles north of Astronics CSC’s Lake Zurich design centre. The locations are linked by close proximity to the I-94, a major interstate highway.
The facility includes 123,000ft² (11,427m²) for factory production, a 4,400ft² (409m²) FAA-approved repair station and 11,200ft² (1,041m²) of warehouse storage. A further 44,000ft² (4,088m²) will be used for office functions including research and development, engineering, product support and administration.
