Rosen Aviation has announced the upcoming release of carbon-fibre 13in and 16in 4K seatback IFE displays powered by Qualcomm, aimed at the commercial airline market.
The new displays feature an “ultra-lightweight” carbon composite chassis, and a mobile processor included in collaboration with Qualcomm. Rosen said the design weighs 1 lb and offers 4K HDR resolution and “smart capabilities that far exceed the home television experience”.
The company will showcase the new line of displays at Aviation Interiors Expo (AIX) in Hamburg, Germany, on 28-30 May.
“The momentous success we have enjoyed in business and VIP aviation has ultimately led us to the moment we have always been working towards – our introduction into commercial aviation as a disruptive IFE partner,” said Lee Clark, senior VP strategy at Rosen Aviation. “Rosen has worked in collaboration with other suppliers in the past to provide revolutionary products, such as digital windows, to commercial airlines like Emirates, but this new product line represents an entire step change in our brand presence. The 13in and 16in 4K displays we’ll be showing at AIX will quite literally transcend anything currently available. Operators are demanding agile hardware partners to take back control of their passenger experience, and Rosen is here to provide exactly that.”
