A team member at Thornton Aviation is the winner of the first ‘Fast Track’ sweepstakes held by ATG inflight connectivity provider SmartSky Networks.
Kicked-off on Aviation Technician Day on 24 May 2022 and focused on the aviation technicians who install systems on aircraft, the sweepstakes recognise the key contributions and strong support of SmartSky sales and installation partners and their employees.
The grand prize winner, an aviation tech, receives two VIP tickets to a race on 9 October in Charlotte, North Carolina, a behind-the-scenes tour of the facilities of one of NASCAR’s most successful racing teams, and travel and accommodation.
“Our tech is pumped to be the winner of the sweepstakes and we appreciate SmartSky recognising how important not only the sales team is to our mutual success but also the individuals who install the equipment on the aircraft,” said Vince Russo, avionics manager at Thornton Aviation in Van Nuys. “We think SmartSky is a great system and it’s fantastic to see that they are live nationwide. I personally was on one of the demonstration flights at NBAA in Las Vegas last fall and saw that using the internet and making a phone call while on the SmartSky system was just like being in the office.”
SmartSky’s aircraft shipsets are available through a growing list of MRO partners across the USA and Canada and the company is committed to highlighting the importance of its partners. The contest included not only a grand prize winner, but also weekly winners drawn from registered entrants from the numerous industry partners who are supporting the growth of the company.
“We are proud to call Thornton Aviation our partner and celebrate the work they are doing to make SmartSky a reality for their customers,” said Aria Bahawdory, director, MRO account management. “Awarding this prize and recognising the Thornton team is yet another way we can grow our business together.”
With STCs complete for many popular business aviation aircraft, SmartSky’s partners are installing the hardware on numerous individual and fleet aircraft. Additional STCs for more aircraft types are nearing completion with the FAA. Customers have their choice of service plans with monthly data allowance levels from 5GB to unlimited and discounts for pre-payment and multi-year commitments.
