TrueNorth has named Gulfstream, West Star Aviation and GDC Technics as its 2016 On Course Top Tier Dealers. Not presented every year, On Course awards are reserved to acknowledge exceptional performance in the company’s dealer network.
West Star Aviation was recognized for developing and implementing TrueNorth’s Simphonē FANS-1/A+ Data Link Unit (DLU) and Simphonē Prelude cabin communications system. “They continue to demonstrate a strong commitment to enabling both cabin and flight deck communications,” said Steve Newell, chief commercial officer at TrueNorth. “West Star is leading the charge when it comes to FANS-1/A implementations.”
TrueNorth said Gulfstream’s decision to select the company’s DLU for retrofit on its fleet of GIV and GV aircraft extended the benefits of FANS-1/A to legacy aircraft with a streamlined upgrade. “The system can operate as the sole data link service on the aircraft without FANS 1/A+-compatible Inmarsat satcom installed, and as a backup data link solution on those with FANS-1/A+,” said Mark van Berkel, CEO at TrueNorth. “This offers redundancy.”
GDC Technics won the nod for extending the reach of TrueNorth’s Simphonē Mobile GSM solution around the world. “In significant implementations this year, GDC Technics confirmed GSM as a key enabler for passengers who want to use their own mobile phones on board,” said Newell.
In other news, TrueNorth presented a lifetime achievement award to Bill Arsenault of Mid-Canada Mod Center. “TrueNorth and Mid-Canada Mod Center have significant accomplishments together and this is due, in no small part, to Bill’s sustained relationship with us,” said van Berkel.
Arsenault’s team was first to install and certify both the Simphonē Chorus and Optelity Pro cabin communications systems. The company also certified the Simphonē FANS-1/A+ DLU on a Falcon 50, Airbus A310, and most recently on a Challenger 604.
