Bombardier has delivered a Global 6000 to three-time Formula 1 champion Niki Lauda. The aircraft includes cabinetry and stone countertops supplied by the newly rebranded F. LIST (formerly LIST components & furniture). The veneer is an African ebony with a matt finish. The ‘Star Galaxy’ stone veneer also has a matt finish. Soft materials in the cabin, although supplied by various companies, are a matching gray with pinstripes. The seats are finished in gray leather.
The layout incorporates a forward galley and crew rest, a club-four seating arrangement, four-place dining area, aft bedroom with two divans, and an aft lavatory.
The aircraft was fitted for Lauda by Bombardier. The design was created by Hannes Rausch, who also designed aircraft interiors for Lauda Air and NIKI Luftfahrt, airlines Lauda founded.
Lauda is a keen pilot and intends to fly the aircraft himself to Formula 1 races. He is involved in the Mercedes AMG Petronas team as non-executive chairman. Lauda will also appear at Bombardier Business Aircraft events throughout the 2015 Formula 1 season, in a new role as spokesperson for the aircraft manufacturer. His previous aircraft include a Global 5000 and a Challenger 300.
Business Jet Interiors International has conducted exclusive interviews with Lauda and parties involved in the project. The full story will be revealed in the next issue of the magazine, to be published in April 2015.
