JMC Group – which provides aviation manpower and engineering services – has strengthened its presence in North America. The UK-headquartered company launched in Canada in June 2021, and Patrick Ramsey has joined the business in Montreal. He has nearly five years of experience as a senior recruiter.
Ramsey previously managed a team of recruiters supporting clients in Canada, the USA and Mexico. Customers included major global aircraft manufacturers and suppliers. He will be working with France Caissy, head of operations for JMC Group in North America.
“It’s highly rewarding to be joining this progressive, forward-thinking company,” said Ramsey. “JMC has earned its reputation for its commitment to its people, contractors, clients and candidates and I look forward to helping them to build new, long-term relationships.”
In addition to being actively engaged in recruiting, he is working on a podcast project focused on aviation, with the aim of encouraging more people to come into the sector.
“We are building on our success in Europe as a trusted market leader in staffing solutions to build a robust business here,” said Caissy. “Our portfolio of solutions is diverse. Building on 20 years’ activity and expertise of putting aviation services personnel in jobs – from south-west UK, Malta, Budapest and Sofia – we work hand in glove with the employer, advising on typical rates and fees, as a dedicated aviation services and engineering specialist. JMC has been especially active redeploying employees who left their regular jobs owing to the pandemic.”
“Prior to COVID-19 we were already experiencing a big shortage of qualified aviation technicians leaving their roles through redundancy, early retirement,” Caissy continued. “Many technical services’ personnel and engineers decided not to return to the workforce. Others chose to abandon aviation for new careers. This has presented us with a challenge, but aviation is cyclical and we are starting to see an upturn again. We are ideally placed here in Canada, especially Montreal, being the third-largest aviation hub in the world for aviation, aerospace and defence. Patrick’s close understanding of the aviation market will be a great asset to us.”
JMC Group is also looking forward to working with the Canadian Mobility and Aerospace Institute (CMAI) this year, Caissy added. CMAI works to ensure Canada excels in the attraction, development and retention of the highest quality workforce talent from Canada abroad. “It’s a very helpful association for trade schools advising on careers in aviation to university,” Caissy said.
