Textron Aviation has announced its sponsorship of the Heroes MAKE America Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) certification training programme in conjunction with The Manufacturing Institute, the workforce development and education affiliate of the National Association of Manufacturers.
This initiative is designed to bridge the skills gap between the military and manufacturing industries by equipping active duty, transitioning service members and veterans with in-demand qualifications and industry-specific certifications needed to excel in manufacturing careers.
“America faces a skills gap and our veterans are uniquely positioned to bridge that gap,” said Maggie Topping, SVP of human resources and communications at Textron Aviation. “By supporting the Airframe and Powerplant Certification Training programme, we will make a significant difference in the lives of our service members by providing a streamlined pathway to quality manufacturing jobs following their exceptional service to our country.”
The six-week accelerated programme is facilitated at Textron Aviation’s Career & Learning Center. It includes two weeks of training prep and career readiness, followed by four weeks of A&P certification training and testing. This approach is intended to ensure that participants are well-prepared for their new careers.
The first cohort of the programme is underway. Interested candidates can apply for the Heroes MAKE America A&P Certification Training programme here.
This programme is a collaborative effort between Textron Aviation, the Manufacturing Institute’s Heroes MAKE America programme, WSU Tech, the Workforce Alliance of South Central Kansas and McConnell Air Force Base.
