Starling Aerospace will show off its most recent development, the VIP Track and Swivel Seat, at Aircraft Interiors Middle East (AIME) – held in Dubai, UAE, on January 23-24, 2018. The seat is certified for 9g and 16g and is made in-house. It reclines to 179°, turns 359°, can accommodate passengers over 6ft tall, and tracks sideways, backward and forward.
The seat at the show demonstrates Starling Aerospace’s in-house upholstery expertise. It is finished in cream leather with blue leather piping and twin stitching.
The company will also show a model aircraft finished in wood-look film, demonstrating its aqua transfer printing capabilities. The company now has a 1.2m x 3.4m tank with a robotic arm, an automated film lay and activation system in place, enabling it to process full-size sideledges, bulkheads and sliding doors in one dip.
The company has also invested in a four-axis machining center for aluminum seat components, a five-axis CNC router for 3D composite structures and a Gerber automated CNC leather and fabric cutter.
“With this equipment, we can provide high-quality repetitive finishes, shorter lead times and a higher standard of customer service,” said Coralie Wigg, commercial director and co-founder at Starling Aerospace.
“In-house 3D printing of prototypes to demonstrate proof of concept for designs and customer approval prior to production minimizes lost time and brings first article concepts in real time.”
