Antimicrobial and antiviral material finish solutions have been incorporated into Jamco’s Venture business-class seat for commercial aircraft. The idea behind the new Venture Pristine offering is to ensure every aspect of the trim and finish is optimised for hygiene in flight, and to make sanitisation easier and more effective.
The initiative was made in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, to ensure safety and peace of mind for passengers and crew.
Jamco commented that the Venture seat was already designed with cleanliness and ease of sanitisation in mind. The creators specifically targeted a seamless design. The full-radius, seamless integrated trim and a seamless capacitive interface for the seat controls create fewer split lines and gaps.
The company said that by minimising split lines and eliminating hard-to-clean gaps and crevices from the back shell, seat controls and more, it has made the Venture seat cleaner from the start, and it remains easy to clean throughout its lifetime.
In addition, remote, augmented reality training is available for Venture, eliminating the need for face-to-face interaction. Jamco also aimed for a lightweight design with fewer parts, to reduce operational costs.
The special cleanliness-focussed finishes feature on every surface of the Venture Pristine solution. A variety of modern materials and coatings are used, which are designed to inhibit the growth of pathogens.
High-touch areas incorporate materials designed to both ensure a poor environment for pathogens, and to be nearly chemical-proof, allowing for the use of strong cleaning agents.
Low-touch areas, which tend to be cleaned less regularly, incorporate paint impregnated with antimicrobial properties to reduce the surface lifespan of pathogens and maintain sanitary conditions between cleans.
