Starling Aerospace has upgraded its VIP Track and Swivel Seat to be lighter, more agile and to have a smoother gliding and locking action. The next-generation seat was unveiled at Aircraft Interiors Expo, held in Hamburg, Germany, on April 2-4, 2019.
The seat tracks sideways, forward and backwards and now has an electric head rest, recline and leg rest. The product is certified for 9g and 16g, can turn 359° and has been designed to lie flat at 179°. The seat can accommodate passengers over 6ft (1.83m) in height.
When it comes to styling and upholstery, customers are being offered even more options as part of the seat’s upgrade. Starling Aerospace says its EASA approvals for design (UK21J.538), manufacturing (UK21G.2581), and repair and overhaul (UK145.01249) mean it has the in-house manufacturing capabilities needed to enable greater design flexibility and fast turnaround.
Starling Aerospace also promoted new technology including an aqua transfer tank designed to enable large-scale aircraft interior components to be covered in one dip, a four-axis machining center for aluminum seat components, a five-axis CNC router for 3D composite structures and a Gerber automated CNC leather and fabric cutter.
