Upholstery leather supplier Garrett Leather has installed more than 300 solar panels on the rooftop at its corporate headquarters in Buffalo, New York. The company explained the move was made to reduce its environmental footprint and contribute to a more sustainable future.
Garrett Leather said the solar panel installation is expected to generate 169.6 megawatts of renewable energy annually and achieve an annual carbon offset of 120.3 metric tons, equivalent to 143.2 acres of new forest planted.
“Garrett Leather is excited to embark on this journey towards a greener and more sustainable future,” said Max Brown, president of Garrett Leather. “We believe that corporate responsibility is not just a buzzword but a genuine commitment to preserving our planet for future generations. We are proud of the steps we’ve taken and remain dedicated to furthering our sustainability initiatives.”
The company said implementing sustainable practices is an integral part of its business operations, aligning with its long-term commitment to environmental responsibility and corporate citizenship. Garrett Leather sells genuine upholstery leather, which it highlighted as a natural, renewable resource. The company offers an accredited CEU class for interior designers titled ‘Why specifying quality, genuine leather is good for the environment’.
