Textron Aviation welcomed nearly 230 college interns to an orientation day on 23 May 2021. The students heard from various leaders at the company, met their peers and learned about the activities planned for the 2021 summer intern programme.
Textron Aviation interns are placed in challenging roles and ultimately receive a 90-day interview. Interns partake in real-world learning experiences and professional training, also gaining networking opportunities and the ability to experience different roles to determine their strengths and where they may have room to grow.
Interns have been getting hands-on career experience at Textron Aviation for years, as detailed in the video above.
The 2021 college interns represent many universities across the country, including Kansas, Kansas State, Wichita State, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Purdue, Embry-Riddle, Iowa State, Arizona State, Texas A&M, Missouri, Miami (Ohio), Clemson and Pittsburg State. The group of interns will support multiple functions throughout the company.
“It’s not just an internship, it’s a whole experience; one of the best experiences I’ve ever had,” said Abby, a 2019 summer intern.
Textron Aviation also partakes in a Youth Employment Project (YEP) for high school students aged 16 to 19, this year engaging with students representing more than 20 local high schools. YEP interns receive the full internship experience, including orientation with parents and supervisor, community service day and future employment opportunities. During their time, they experience a six-week programme in departments throughout the organisation.
